Absences Policy

At Greengate Academy, regular attendance is crucial for your child's progress and engagement in their Islamic education. To maintain accountability and ensure the best learning experience for all students, we have established the following absences policy:

Prior Notification of Absences:
Parents or guardians are required to notify the academy in advance of any planned absences for their child. This includes notifying us of any holidays, appointments, family emergencies, or other situations that may cause the student to miss a class.

Unauthorised Absences:
Unauthorised absences occur when a student is absent from a class without prior notification or a valid reason. We strongly discourage unauthorised absences as they disrupt the student's learning journey and affect the overall class dynamic.

Consequences of Unauthorised Absences:
If a student has a track record of unauthorised absences, it is a matter of concern for the student's progress and commitment to their Islamic education. In such cases, we will schedule a meeting with the parents to discuss the issue and find ways to address the problem collaboratively.

Improvement Plan:
During the meeting, we will work together with parents to identify the underlying causes of the unauthorised absences and develop an improvement plan. This plan may include strategies to reinforce the importance of attendance and explore any challenges that may be hindering regular participation.

Termination of Enrolment:
If a student's unauthorised absences persist despite the efforts to address the issue, and there is no demonstrated improvement or commitment shown, the academy reserves the right to terminate the child's enrolment. This decision is taken with the best interest of both the student and the overall learning environment in mind.

It is our utmost priority to support every student's educational journey, and we understand that circumstances may arise that require absence from class. By adhering to this absence policy, we can ensure effective communication and work together to address any attendance concerns. Your cooperation and involvement are vital in creating a positive and consistent learning experience for your child at Greengate Academy.

We are dedicated to fostering growth and development of our students, equipping them with the essential knowledge of our faith.
